We have decided to sell our BMW 330xi. Here are the details:

- Original owner; 224K highway mileage; always garage kept

- Body is in beautiful condition. NO rust. It has the minor dings and "door dents" you'd expect with a car this age, but nothing else. Underneath is clean. All protective shields are still there. CV boots are in good shape (no tears).

- All lighting (outside and inside the car) and all dash gauges work fine

- Car is in excellent running condition. Starts with no problem, idles smooth, accelerates with power and no hesitation. Engine is clean and runs very smooth. Always kept up on regular maintenance (oil changes, air / cabin filters, wiper blades, etc.)

- Replaced within the last year: fuel pump, DISA Valve, CCV valve (and all hoses), valve cover gasket, spark plugs, upper radiator hose. Also had 4 new Toyo tires installed.

- All engine service / maintenance throughout the life of the car was either done by a BMW dealer or myself. ALL parts are BMW authentic (no aftermarket)

- The only problem with it now is a front-end shaking on acceleration (more noticeable at lower speeds). This shake only happens under load (gas pedal pressed). Removing my foot from the gas pedal makes the shake virtually disappear. I strongly believe it's the front-right axle / CV joint that needs replacing (given the above and the fact it has some play when I move it with my hand). It's either that or the transfer case needs to be replaced. But at the moment I just don't have the time anymore to look at it.

I am located in Saylorsburg, PA (18353). I took VERY good car of this car during its lifetime and quite honestly don't want to let it go. Car is being sold AS IS with no warranty. I am in no rush to sell it, and will not entertain low ball offers. I kindly ask that you don't waste my time if you are not prepared to pay my asking price of $6250. Please email me with any questions. Thanks for looking!

So I picked up a 98 323IS in Black a month ago. I thought it had a good title, and it drove great. Runs tip top, pulls hard, no mechanical issues at all, but the airbag light and brake pad light were on. I went to register it and found out otherwise. It had been totaled
Doesn't look to have been wrecked hard at all, but the driver side, side impact airbag had blown causing an insurance total. Here will be the progress of my car.

First off, I will restore it, not completely to stock, but with BMW factory stuff (ie.. the Style 42s)
Some before pictures how its was the day I bought it although these were taken today just before I put the wheels on.

With the new wheels (These will probably end up getting refinished):

Looks like I need to roll fenders, because even 225/45 will not fit, these are actually fully sitting on the tires, got worse when I let it move off that slope (these are 235/45/17, a bit big)

I'll throw up some interior pics tomorrow

The bad:
Missing stock head unit
Some plastic molding carpet edge to door sill on driver side, broken and has screws jammed through it.. who does that?!
Door guard trim also has screws through it.
Front and rear bumpers are scraped pretty bad
Missing front HK speakers, and Amp (wiring had been hacked all to hell for install of MB Quart crossovers), now fixed
HID ballast are inop
Had a broke DS corner light
Window tint is purplish and none on DS window
Wheels were three different kinds (again, who does that)
Airbag in door had been deployed along with drivers seatbelt pretensioner
Brake sensor was mangled
DS door panel is tore up
That's about it, everything else is great

This thread may go somewhat slow, but I'll update it as things come along, next in order are the bumpers and fender rolling (just enough to clear)

I find myself torn, I am in the process of looking at E36's and E30's. I thought I had it figured out, I was going to buy an E36. Wow found a little E30 Cab on CL today and it looks killer with the old school BBS wheels and nice interior. Also found a real nice 325 with real nice wheels and a jam up suspension, and both cars are under 4k! I really like the look of the E30, it reminds me of my Wolfenburg VW I had about 5 years ago. The only reason I sold that car was because it had the good but stupid mechanical fuel injection on it and I ended up spending a butt load of $ on hard parts instead of just slapping a turbo on it, lol. I am looking for the "Push" here friends, I like the E30 body better but I know the E36 is a stronger car. I see a lot of people transplanting engines in the E30 cars as well. Can the M20 not produce desirable power? And it looks like to me these cars would be more simple than the E36, easier yet to work on and cost less to maintain. Someone help me out here please, I really like the E30 325 but I don't want to be upset with the power

I have discovered that the stock exhausts have 2 pipes that come from the factory manifolds to the back of the car where they converge into a 2-2 muffler. Is there a downfall or setback in converging these at the front of the car into a Y pipe then running a single 2.5" pipe all the way back into a single in dual out muffler? It would be much cheaper and should produce more bottom end torque. On my VR6 I cut the cats and ran straight pipe to the muffler with one 14" resonator in between to dampen the db's. Is this feasible here in these cars as well?

New guy here. A month ago, I purchased a '98 323IS Black with black leather and HK. The car is a little beat up on the front and rear bumpers, but had almost perfect interior. I kind of got screwed by not car faxing it, found out it had been insurance totaled due to an airbag deployment yet the body is straight. It had different wheels on the rear than on the front. Yet it runs awesome, no vanos noises, drives straight, and pulls hard like its new. I am picking up some Style 42's thursday evening for her.

About me: I love cars, very passionately. I attended UTI, not really to get into a dealer, but to learn more about what I love. I then went on to BMW specific training. Anyhow, I've got to get to work. I'll post what few pictures I have of the car (currently doesnt have a name yet) when I get home in the morning. Anybody north of Seattle wants to meet up at some point or just talk about events and shops (I have no idea about my area concerning BMW), I love cruises and getting to hang out with other enthusiasts.
I am wanting to buy an E36 (maybe an E30) and I am looking for your opinions and knowledge on these cars. I am going to go 4 door and manual trans. I have been looking at the 2.5 cars, are these the best one's or are the 2.8 or 2.0 better? Fist thing I always do to a car is performance header, CAI and synthetic fluids. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all,new here and was hoping to get some help and maybe help someone else out sometime along the way! My 01 525I wagon won't set the readiness monitors. I recently purchased the car and went through state inspection and was told the secondary air, catalyst and oxygen sensor monitors were not complete. I have access to an Autel scan tool and watched the o2 sensors and they seem to be working correctly. I also let the car sit for a day, inside a garage, started it and performed a complete drive cycle but still, they won't set. What am i missing???? There are no codes, pending or otherwise. Thanks all,in advance!

I have a 2003 325i
I have stalled four times in the last... 200 miles. (I know I should of checked this sooner)
When I stall this exclamation point in a squiggly line box Icon appears next to the "D" on my dashboard where my speedometer is and stuff. In the manual, it says that light means its something to do with my transmission and I should see a BMW specialist ASAP. It's hard to afford my BMW while in college and other stuff.
I took it to one BMW place today and they told me I needed a new alternator. It doesn't exactly make sense though because I don't exactly know how my alternator breaking down has anything to do with me stalling. I would think my alternator dying would cause my car to not turn on. I don't know. I am stressed about it because I hear this new alternator will cost me $500 +...Which I can't exactly afford.
I am most likely going to go to a different BMW specialist tomorrow.
Does anyone know anything about this? Help?

I'm looking for performance summer tires for a 2008 335xi coupe. I don't have the sport package.

It looks like the sports package came with a staggered set-up....
225/40R18 front
255/35R18 rear
It seems the car pushes a little right now. Why did they go with a staggered set-up on an AWD car? Would it be better to stay with a square set-up in a different size?

If I go with a square set-up, what is the maximum size I can install on the front?
225/40R18 (25.09 OD)
235/40R18 (25.40 OD)
245/35R18 (24.75 OD)

If I go with a staggered set-up, can the drive-train handle a difference of 0.1" in OD between front and rear?
225/40R18 (25.09 OD) front
255/35R18 (25.03 OD) rear
or
235/40R18 (25.40 OD) front
265/35R18 (25.30 OD) rear

Other subject...Winter Tires! I'm planning on putting winter tires on the OEM wheels. I think the OEM wheels are 17x7.5...is that right? I'm looking at either a 215/50R17 (25.46 OD) or a 215/55R17 (26.31 OD). I measures the clearance around the front tire and it appears there is clearance for a 215/55R17 tire. The speedometer would actually be accurate with a 215/55R17 too because it's currently about 5% fast and it would give me another 1/2" of ground clearance in the winter. Has anybody installed 215/55R17 on a 335xi? Any problems?

I just purchased a 2008 335xi coupe with a 6-speed manual. I'm interested in boosting the power but am not interested in throwing money at mods with little impact....don't tell me to buy a CAI.

I did a little looking around and it looks like the following might be a good start. Am i off path or is this a good place to start?

JB4 PNP (N54 Stage 3) plus BMS USB Cable combo
$509

BMS WW Quick Install Meth Kit w/ JB4 FSB Integration
$479

BMS 135i 335i 3" Performance Downpipes
$379

prices are from burgertuning

Do the BMS downpipes fit an 335xi or just the 335i? If I take the cat out of the down pipe, can i tune out the downstream o2 with the JB4 PNP? I'm not going to buy 50/50 meth/water. Is a meth kit worth it if i only run -30 degree F washer fluid? The info for the JB4 said it will automatically update the air/fuel for e85. Can you run e85 without going to higher flow injectors and fuel pump? how does the JB4 know what % of alcohol is in the fuel?....at wot is the air/fuel set by fixed table, automatically adjust based on a OEM o2 a wide band or are tables adjusted automatically based on air/fuel trim at low throttle?

I don't know anything about BMW's so any other suggestions would be appreciated.
